At West Park Eye Care, patients are put through a number of tests that evaluate all aspects of their vision. 

Tests include:

• Computerized Refraction
• Screening Visual Field (Checks for Potential Blind Spots)
• Color Perception
• Stereopsis (Evaluates how well your eyes work together)
• Goldman applanation tonometry (Evaluates eye pressure. One of the tests for glaucoma).
• Retinal exam.

 

Eye Emergencies

In addition to routine eye exams our doctors see ocular emergencies daily. Symptoms of emergecies can include redness, eye pain, light sensitivity, discharge, sudden changes or loss of vision, flashes and floaters. We can also remove embedded foreign bodies in the eye.  If you ever have any of these unusual symptoms, just call our office and we can most likley see you the same day.

 

Dry Eye and Allergy

Symptoms include itchy eyes, burning, mild redness and discharge. Dry eyes can also cause fluctuating vision. Certain types of oral medications, extensive reading, computer tasks and dry environments may aggravate marginal dry eyes. Dry eyes can be diagnosed by using special dyes to observe tear film patterns. An evaluation of tear film quality and quantity will be done and proper treatment will be initiated and managed.
